Hello friends of live music,

I'm still feeling good after my Kent Taylor Brown and Jeff Halley 'fix' at 14th Avenue Steakhouse last night. I felt a little sluggish at first but once I got into the music and felt the friendly vibes all around, I couldn't help but dance. Jeff keeps the love energy flowing with his up-tone vocals and when Marschall Van Doren jumped in and took over the keyboard in his unique style, Kent was free to fill the room with sax, flute and guitar. Peter Armfield's bass sounded so strong on "Slow Down Linda" I had to look over to be sure some famous pro hadn't taken over when I wasn't looking. Speaking of surprises, Kent Brown was singing "Wonderful Tonight" and suddenly I heard some electric guitar, and realized we had a 'guest artist' sitting in with the band. Learned it was Billy Jenkins, someone I'd never heard before but hope he comes back soon.
Overall, a splendid evening, thanks to everyone who participated.

Before I move on, a little disclaimer: be sure to look on the tool bar above, "Where are these bars and clubs?" and call before going to an event. Things change fast in the music world, [after all, musicians are subject to physical ailments and family issues like the rest of us] and since their talents are unique, it's not easy to find a replacement for them. So, you should call before you go if discovering a cancellation would upset you. Or have a back-up plan....

Thursday night...what's happening?
I know one thing for sure:
Johnny Nick and Tony Schillizzi [no, he's not Irish, guess again] will be playing and singing at the American Bar and Grill, (Vista Royale) tonight, 6 to 9 or whenever. Very eclectic, meaning all kinds of tunes, and requests not only taken, but extracted from the audience! Go for dinner and enjoy playing 'stump the band.' You can even dance.  Lots of fun.
Tony also sent this:

Tony and Holly perform at the Lakes at Pointe West Clubhouse, [7955 16th Manor. 299-7900] on Fri, 2/8 -5:30 to 8:30.  They will sing all of your favorites..and then some!  Enjoy a nice dinner, it's prime rib night, and then dancing or just enjoying the entertainment. Open to the public.

Also received from guitar player, singer, Mike Presutti:
