Friday evening, I had intended to scoot down to the Blue Star to hear a little of "Low Key," but I couldn't pull myself away from the non-stop entertainment of Johnny Nick at DiMare Restaurant.

The DiMare lounge is a small space but it was packed with some of Vero's finest. First, there was Capt. Dave Murphy and charming social butterfly, Deirdre, there early to start off the night. Then the always lovely Trish of Blondies Chic Boutique and her friend Peter arrived. Next, Charlie Wilson entered with his lovely friend Toddy (I hope that's spelled right) and some other friends.
Someone asked Johhny if he would play a waltz. "A waltz?" he replied, scratching his head.He then launched into a medley of them, including 'Roll Out the Barrel and we got to see a hidden talent of a very special guest, Vero's illustrious coach Ron Perranoski! That man can waltz!

We were later joined with musicians who had finished their 'gigs' elsewhere: Marschall Van Doren who played for the Polish Club and Tony Schillizzi from his evening at the Elks. It was a party-like atmosphere right to the last piano note as Johnny finally called it a night, declaring that he finished at 10pm, not 10am! Of course it was already 10:30 by then.

Future music news:
Voodoo is playing downtown.
Main Street Vero Beach presents: Downtown Friday
February 22nd from 6:00-9:00pm.
The street becomes the dance floor as local band, VooDoo, plays
popular music from the 60’s, 70’s and the present day hits. There will be games and activities for children, food vendors, soda, Budweiser Beers and wine.
Good band. Good time for fun.
