Ah, Saturday.
Woke up singing today! Fridays are filled with live music around Vero and I enjoyed quite a bit of it.
Marschall Van Doren had the diners and dancers up and moving at the Italian-American Club early in the evening, they seemed to be having good food and a good time.

Then, a quick dash over to the 14th Avenue Steak House, always good for a dance party, and caught the last part of the band "Reckoning," which is a real treat if you haven't heard them yet. I walked in to the sounds of Pam's "Bobby McGee," a real crowd pleaser. Jeff was was ramping up the energy with a 'hot' tamborine. Pam has the perfect voice for this song, really digs down and belts it out. This group, Todd, Pam and Jeff have developed a style of harmonizing over the years that is a real pleasure to hear and you can hear them every Friday at the Steakhouse. One listener at the bar said, "They have made this place wonderful tonight."

Loved Pam's "Hurts So Bad," a Susan Tedeschi song. Todd had everyone up dancing to"Mustang Sally."

Next stop was Kelley's to hear what DejaVu was up to. Vince Caporale and Eddy D'Angelo were playing for one of the twins of Doublemint fame, Cindy, doing her very special "That's All."  Marschall Van Doren showed up after his gig to play his 'keytar', and then, a very dapper Kent Taylor Brown drops in and tops things off with his guitar and vocals! The joint was jumpin'.

One more stop - over the bridge and onto the island, where Johnny Nick had just wrapped things up at De Mare. Good to see everyone there, but just for good measure, zipped down to see what was happening at Kitty Wagonner's Blue Star. Aha, there is a band, Wynn Nash, was it? Enjoyed their rock/blues and danced a bit, enjoying all the familiar faces of the beach crowd. Now I know where to get a music 'night cap' on Friday past 11 pm!

Tonight:

Saturday, 2/9

           >Earls Hideaway - Nasty Habits, 2-6
           >Patio - Louis Archambeau, 7 - 10
           >American Bar and Grill - Tony and Holly, 6-9

Sunday, 2/10

           >Vero Beach Veterans - 'Jam with the band' and
                 Kent Taylor Brown, 4:30-8:30

           >YNOT Club - Jeff Halley with Todd [from the
               band 'Reckonning', 6:30 - 9:30.

Note: there is an error in the newspaper ad for YNOT. It has Kent Taylor Brown on Sunday and Jeff Haley on Tuesday and it's really the reverse.

This just in from my man on music patrol, Norm Burtch :

"Once again "Reckoning" rocked the 14th Ave. Steakhouse. The crowd was just the right size - basically a full house -  but not overcrowded.  Everyone having a good time!
Kelley's after 14th Ave. was great too. "Deja Vu"played and hosted in their usual magnificent manner. Guest artists, (players/singers), all entertaining: Ruthie tap dancing; Harvey, Tommy Aldrige, Nancy Richards, Cindy, Frank and Tricia singing. Tricia is really getting into it.
Also Marschall Van Duren playing his "Keytar," and Kent Taylor Brown closing it out with a wonderful version of "Europa".

Well, alright. Always nice to have a second opinion! Thanks Norm.
