A new week and I'm more freed up to do some 'music news' and get the schedule up for the next few days.
This past Friday, I spent an especially nice evening at the Quilted Giraffe on U.S. 1. Tony and Holly were performing and they seemed to fit into this elegant ambiance beautifully. They are definitely a 'class act' - people appreciate the quality of their voices and their varied choice of songs.

The talented Holly Hewitt at the Quilted Giraffe |
Of course, Holly was asked to do a favorite of her followers - "Man of the Mancha." We are amazed when she hits all of those high notes so effortlessly. Tony followed with another show tune, "Why Can't I Fall in Love?" The dance floor filled up when he sang, "That Old Black Magic" but much of the time, people preferred to simply listen, especially when Tony did "Cara Mia" and "Dream.' Another treat was Holly's beautiful rendition of "I Will Always Love You."
Joy and Bill Convoy celebrate a birthday! |
Bill Convoy was celebrating his birthday and as the evening wore on, the dance party seemed to pick up steam. It was well past nine when Holly sang, "Hit the Road Jack," but people stayed on for more rockin' and rollin'!

In case you didn't know, Will's 55 on the island is closed for the summer. They had a lively celebration there, with musicians Eric Olson and Bob Martens of "Low Key."

An Evening of Classic Jazz
Something new and exciting is happening at the 14th Avenue Steakhouse this Thursday, 5 - 8. You can hear 'classic jazz' by the Rich Hall Sound with special guest, Kent Taylor Brown! This should be a real musical treat. To get a good table, reservations are accepted at 772-778-1020.
