Thurs 11/21, Friday 11/22

Hello all, 

I'm supposed to be taking some time off from the blog to regroup, but it's hard not to report on fun nights, like the one Wednesday evening at the 14 Ave. Steakhouse. 

First of all, Jeff Haley was in fine form and really got my attention with his wonderful rendition of "The Wonder of You." 

And of course, it's always a thrill to hear Kent Taylor Brown, playing everything beautifully on piano and guitar, from - honky tonk  and rock and roll to blues and showtunes.

And all that is made even better by Peter Armfield on bass, including his incredible singing improvisation on "Chicago." That's always a lot of fun and always a surprise. 

There were a couple of other guest artists as well; Captain Country and Nancy Richards kept everyone dancing.

As soon as Jeff Haley announced a visiting country singer from Kentucky, (passing through Nashville) named Donnie Collins, I knew we were in for a treat.  Donnie has a deep and soulful country voice and I loved his "The Day I Started Lovin' You Again" by Merle Haggert.
