Friday and weekend

Hello all, 

I'm so glad I went to the jazz last evening, hosted by the 14th Avenue Steakhouse! At first I thought, "aw, maybe I'll just stay home tonight and catch up on some things", and then jumped up, threw on some clothes and arrived for the last couple of sets. 

And as often happens when I feel kind of lazy about going out, I end up having a great time! It was nice seeing friends and the music was especially good. Kent Taylor Brown continues to amaze when he gets into the jazz guitar sound and then seemingly effortlessly,  switches to flute or saxophone. 

There were 4 musicians in the Rich Hall Sound group last evening - Kent, Rich Hall on drums and vocals, Ryan Larsen on keyboard and, instead of the trumpet, we heard Taddy Mowatt on bass. That was quite a treat. 

Overall, a really satisfying evening enjoying a variety of jazz styles. Before they wrapped things up, the group did a sort of 'rock n' roll' jazz number which was a lot of fun. I realize that there is a lot to learn and appreciate about this particular style of music - so keep it coming guys and lots of thanks to owner, Phyliss. 
I may have dinner there next Thursday, those plates going to the many diners tables had a very appetizing aroma!
