Hello everyone, 

I enjoyed a couple of places on Thursday evening, both jazz events.  First I stopped by the Sumo House, on 17th St., just east of US1, and heard the lovely Victoria Cole sing some favorites such as "A Day in the Life of a Fool", "East of the Moon" and "It's a Wonderful World."

Normally accompanied on guitar by Joe Caragol, tonight she sang with Ryan Larson, one of Vero's top jazz piano players. In the past, Ryan played with the Rich Hall Trio. and now can be heard at Vinz on the beach with the Red Tail Hawk trio.

Think about going to the Sumo House for a nice Japanese/Thai meal and hearing some really fine jazz, any Thursday evening. 

Afterwards, I stopped in at the Blue Star Brasserie and was so surprised to see how beautifully Kitty Wagner has pulled the restaurant together! She has once again realized her dream.

 Food can be had 'til 10 most nights,
and limited menu after that. Call to confirm service.

seating or before your meal. 

I loved the sparkling windows and there were
drapes! The lighting is attractive throughout. 

Nearly every table was packed and people seemed to be enjoying her renowned cuisine. And the music.
 There was Don Bestor at the piano along with sax player Gene Bruno. They did some "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered", and even "Route 66" in a jazz style, "Smooth Operator" and Don played a beautiful "Wind Beneath My Wings."

    Kitty's 'cher ami', Bruce Jackson had a lot to do with making the place so nice - adding lighting, and getting the A/C up to par and many other details.

I enjoy the staff at Bluestar, always zipping around, quick to spot someone's need and - all with a smile. Especially that Alan!
