Hello live music fans of Vero and near-by places, 

My goal for this blog, (one day to be a complete web-site) is to make the live music venues known to everyone in town who may want to get out of the house but don't know where live entertainment is 'happening.' 

My efforts so far are bare-bones compared to what I would like to do, but I'm still making progress. Vero Beach has some wonderful talent and an appreciative audience, so I will continue to answer the question, "Where's the music?" and expand to "Who are these musicians?" as time goes by.

I also wanted to mention the featured music of the month at Waldo's on the beach. I have not heard him myself, but have had rave revues from those who have. His name is Ben Prestage and will play every Wednesday at Waldo's, 7 - 10. Might be a good night to have some dinner there and catch Mr. Prestage, playing guitar (and everything else!) and singing. I hope to stop by there soon.

Celebrating a life well lived. 

You may have read in the paper, Wednesday and Thursday, an article by Russ Lemmon about the loss of our dear friend and live music fan, Elsa Sorenson. 

Bob Deniger and Russ Lemmon did a wonderful job of telling her story, showing the character and spunk of this charming woman. I was glad to help out a little with the writing.

A memorial service for Elsa will be held on Tuesday morning, May 14th at 10 am.  There will be a minister facilitating; remembrances of her life; a guest singer and a photo montage. Light refreshments will be served following the service. Her friends and acquaintances are invited. 

Directions: Go west on 60 to 82nd ave. Turn south on 82nd and you will soon come to two mobile home parks. The second is Heritage Plantation where Elsa lived. Turn in and the clubhouse will be easy to find. There is plenty of parking available in the adjoining lot.

Midweek and all is well! 

Such a pleasant evening at the American Bar and Grill. New faces and old friends. Peter Armfield was on bass to accompany Kent Taylor Brown at the keyboard, and then Tony Schillizzi and Johnny Nick showed up and sat in, Tony on guitar and Johnny on keyboard which means we got some great saxophone from Kent. 

I had some nice photos, showing the view of the golf course and the comfortable interior of the American Bar and Grill, but...they are lost somewhere in the depths of computer-ville. I may be able to retrieve them someday, but....

I have to get busy on the new schedule, especially for Wendy.  She wrote to me -  verobeachlive@gmail - to say that she would be in town at the beginning of the week and wanted to know where the live music was. We mustn't disappoint her!

Let's all go out and support Kent Taylor Brown at his debut at the American Bar and Grill at Vista Royale, 5 - 8, this Tuesday night. Let's just do it. 

Great time to come out, have some dinner and listen to some great live music. Dancing also can happen if the mood strikes. The American Bar and Grill has a casual, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. You will love the bar and wait staff - tell Morgan, Charmaine or Shannon, that Tricia sent you or I'll just see you there.

The restaurant at Vista Royale is easy to find; going south, just turn left at Vista Royale Blvd. off of U.S.1, (Wells Fargo) and go straight back.(Turn right if going north.)

 Turn left at the sign that says American Bar and then an immediate right to the parking lot. Walk up the sidewalk, past the pro shop to the entrance of the restaurant. 

Great prices, good food and music we can all relate to and enjoy!

Good morning live music fans and dance fiends of Vero Beach!

Just when I thought the dance parties at 14th Ave. Steakhouse couldn't get any more fun, along come Tony and Holly, with Jeff Haley! They were standing in for Reckonning and they took the 'stand' part seriously. Not one break for the three hours of singing the great dance favorites that people love.

The enthusiastic crowd really didn't know what hit them when Tony and Holly started singing with those incredible voices, taking command of every song they did. Jeff Haley, said, "I never even met Tony and Holly before tonight, but I love singing with them". Jeff certainly did that and made some songs come alive with his deep baratone back-ups.

Dancers really got a work-out! The floor was crammed non-stop and the party energy was wonderful. 

And yes, dear friends, as the fever mounted - there was even a 'conga' dance!

At one point, during the huge storm, the lights went out and the music stopped. No music? No problem. The partiers didn't miss a beat and sang the song straight through until the power came back on!

And there was more than just great music and dancing. People enjoyed some delicious dinner, too.

Sophisticates (and great entertainers in their own right), Frank Gavin, Cindy and Sandy Acher, enjoy a fine  repast. 

           Overall, another great evening to remember at the
                                 14th Avenue Steakhouse.

                         But the evening is not over!

Kelly's Irish Pub and Deli was the next stop for many of us. What a time we had there, from 9 to 11, with the great Deja Vu band, Vince Caporale on keyboard and Eddie D'Angelo on drums.

A lovely young couple came in and were greeted by all. He, Scott Kabel, plays guitar, sitting in with M.J. Wicker at Blue Star and Shuckdaddys, and she, Melissa Roberts, esthetician. They live in Colo. but visit often. Welcome!

Several guest artists were invited up to sing their songs, a feature that makes Kelley's Irish Bar really special. And once again, Mz. Holly knocked everyone out with "At Last" the final song of the night.

Bikers run from Archies and they ride up to Sebastian then it all ends at 5:00 here in Vero back behind Citrus elementary school somewhere in the block of 1st lane.
